This leads to firmware hangs and/or stalls during write when fully filled SSD scrambles for empty cells and is forced to do maintenance mid-write. There is nothing wrong with SSD cache per se - the problem starts when people who bought entry level nas buy a) cheapest SSD they can find, that often happens to be (TLC/mlc, and even QLC) and b) allocate full space for cache. Because in the world of consumer devices features sell, even if they are counterproductive.
